WAIT

Butter-soft, red leather at my back
City lights and sounds all around
Clarity pours down on me
like soap suds running down
the wine glass in your hand
My body leans forward when it
should sway back
Tongue too loose
Heart too hungry
Enraptured by the pleasant joy that is you,
being me got in the way of you being you
Too late to tie the tongue
Heart still famished
I will recline my everything and
wait for you to lean in to me,
wait for you to come to me,
wait for you to give to me.
