When Love Turns to Fear

twilight shackled
to early evening
empty lot
two passersby
car swerves
blocks path
tears flowing
comprehension growing
fear showing

driver reaches behind
back door
swings open
“Want her?”
“Take her!”
wild shaking
heart breaking
spirit quaking
hush, hush
mind cracking,
cracking, cracked

passenger slides
to far side
grips handle
breath catches
head bowed
eyes clenched
tears flowing
comprehension growing
fear showing

strollers walk on
back door
swings closed
trapped again
no air
tears hide
shakes subside
fears ride
on, on
will slipping,
slipping, slipped

away, gone
in a puff
a blink
a sigh…
just like that
love turns to fear.

  1. I adore this one! 🙂 How are you by the way? I haven’t been online for a long long time because I had a horrible time, but I’m gtting better again. 🙂

    • I have been wondering about you for the last several days. I am doing well. Had a rough patch, too. I am so glad you are getting better again. It’s ebb and flow, you know. Just have to keep fighting and striving to get better. 🙂
